Bound Dojo is our ongoing, all‑levels shibari training intensive, built on the Ichinawa lineage and taught at Bound Studio in Lancaster, PA. Each session is a 5 hour block designed for serious students who want consistent coaching, clear progression, and safe, skillful rope.

We begin with a focused group lesson led by Mr. Somerset, introducing or revisiting one core tie or concept from the curriculum so you see the full sequence, common mistakes, and key safety points in context.
After that, the dojo shifts into guided practice. Students work at their own grade level using the official Ichinawa videos, while instructors move through the room offering hands‑on corrections, answering questions, and helping you troubleshoot with your partner’s unique body and needs.
There are 10 total grades in the ichinawa curricullum, plus 3 special grades. Grades run from 10th - 1st, 1st grade being the highest. Each grade includes its own set of instructional videos in the official curriculum. In order to move on to the next grade, you must pay a $25 examination fee. This fee is mandatory in order to pay royalties to Ichinawa headquarters. Upon satisfactory completion, you will unlock the next grades videos (lifetime access).
When you feel ready, you can test on your current grade’s tie during any session. Tests are run live in the room: no assistance, clear standards, immediate feedback, and a clear “what to work on next” so you always know where you stand.
If you want to learn suspension in a way that is structured, safety‑focused, and repeatable, rather than piecing things together from random workshops and the internet, Ichinawa Dojo is where you start.
Prerequisite
None. Begeinners and experienced alike are welcome. 10th grade (beginner) students will be placed together.
Note on Models
10th grade (beginner) students may attend without a model, or bring their own if they wish.
From 9th grade onward, you must have a model. You may bring your own or have the studio provide one for you for a fee of $99/session.
Mr. Somerset is a licensed Ichinawa Instructor authorized by Hajime Kinoko to teach his techniques.
