Ogawa Jute Rope (Raw, Untreated, Sold By The Foot)

$0.59

This is the rope trusted by the greats. Ogawa jute has been handcrafted in Japan since 1929 and is the rope of choice for masters like Naka Akira, Yukimura Haruki, and Hajime Kinoko.

Known for its soft texture, loose lay, and warm golden hue, Ogawa rope is easy to handle and a joy to tie with. Imported directly from Japan, this rope is treated only with JBO (Jute Batching Oil) during manufacturing—you’ll receive it raw and unconditioned, ready for you to finish however you prefer.

Bound Studio offers Ogawa raw jute by the foot in the following diameters:

  • 4.5mm – Ideal for intricate detail work, small patterns, and decorative designs. Not suitable for suspension or uplines.

  • 5mm – Versatile, balanced, and perfect for most Shibari applications including body harnesses and uplines. Best for smaller frames.

  • 6mm – Strong and reliable for suspension, uplines, and full-body ties. Excellent for larger bodies or when you prefer more visual weight and durability in your scenes.

Please Note:
This rope is raw and unfinished, which means it requires treatment before use in rope bondage. Conditioning raw jute improves texture, safety, and longevity. Most treatment methods include:

  • Singeing stray fibers

  • Massaging in jojoba oil or rope butter

  • Allowing the rope to rest before use
